 NICHICON CORPORATION has expanded its ratings for the UCV series of high-capacitance, low-impedance chip-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which are the industry’s most compact. This series is guaranteed for 2,000 hours at 105°C, in response to ongoing demand for equipment that is more compact and offers higher capacitance in the both automotive on-board modules and home electronics. The product will be on display at CEATEC JAPAN 2017, taking place at Makuhari Messe from Tuesday to Friday, October 3 to 6.

Overview/Development Background

 As demand increases for higher mounting densities in automotive and home electronics the demand for chip-type capacitors are also increasing. The capacitors used in digital areas are required to have low noise and low impedance. In addition to high mounting densities, it is essential that individual capacitors be more compact and have higher capacitance and lower impedance.
 By expanding the ratings on this series, we are responding to the increasing demands being placed on capacitors for products that are more compact and have higher capacitance, allowing designers to reduce the number of capacitors needed in designs.


 Based on technologies the Company has cultivated, this product employs thinner electrolytic paper, high-magnification anode foil and thinner cathode foil. As a result, this series achieves capacitance one rank higher than our existing 105°C low-impedance chip-type product, the UCM series. The UCV series is guaranteed for 2,000 hours at 105°C.
