NICHICON CORPORATION expanded the rated voltages of the PCL series (chip-type conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors) to include 20V and 25V on the high voltage side, bringing the lineup's rated voltage range from 4V to 25V. These products guarantee 20,000 hours of operation at 105°C, featuring the highest standard for endurance in the industry.
The new series will be exhibited at Power System Japan 2019, held at Makuhari Messe from Wednesday, April 17, to Friday, April 19.
Overview and Development Background
Conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors, which use conductive polymer electrolytes, feature superior equivalent series resistance (ESR) characteristics at high frequencies and excellent allowable ripple currents. Communication infrastructure equipment has expanded in recent years, driven by the introduction of IoT and 5th generation mobile communication (5G) technologies. Demand for long-life products is high in order to reduce the frequency of maintenance for communication infrastructure equipment. Customers have increasingly asked for capacitors with higher voltage capability along with progress in higher-speed and higher-capacity communication, connection of multiple mobile terminals, and energy saving. In response to these market needs, NICHICON expanded its lineup of the PCL series (chip-type conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors with long life and reliability) to also include rated voltages of 20V and 25V.

The higher voltage capability, is due to NICHICON's enhanced technology to improve voltage holding capability of conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors and further optimization of raw materials and material design. As a result, these products help customers reduce the frequency of equipment maintenance, they can be used in various applications and can be used for a long time.
